Bread Facts

Make sure the mixture stands for at least 5 minutes before transferring into the baking tin. The mixture is quite sticky so spray-on pan greasers make it easier to get the bread out once baked.

Don’t be alarmed if on the off chance your bread turns green. You just needed to include more lemon juice in your mixture.

The reason for this strange reaction is that sunflower seeds contain chlorophyll, also known as chlorogenic acid, which reacts with the Bicarbonate of Soda when heated. Once the product cools, the reaction is complete and it turns green.

It’s quite safe to eat – if you can get your head around the colour – and the flavour will remain intact. Simply delicious.

Serving Suggestions

It is so easy to flavour-up this already delicious bread

Introduce a few ingredients into the dough before baking, try mixing in:

  • Cheddar and mustard
  • Walnut and rosemary
  • Spinach and feta cheese

Once in your baking pan – sprinkle your favourite Nuseeds on top

Cut into 10 slices and freeze for prolonged usage
