“There can be no greater gift than that of giving one’s time and energy to help others without expecting anything in return”. Nelson Mandela
In South Africa the gap between the rich and the poor is increasing annually and the importance of CSI and outreach projects cannot be underestimated when it comes to improving the lives of the poor in this country.
At Nutriseed we support what Madiba challenged us to do and instead of honouring the call to give #67Minutes once a year – we support a community nourishment project every Saturday. Our team prepares sandwiches and packs juices and treats for over 100 children and the elderly in an informal settlement in Kya Sands. We also hand out groceries and occasionally distribute cleaning aids to help tidy up the environment. Easter and Christmas are celebrations that also feature on our calendar – and we make sure we do what we can to spread some seasonal joy and festive cheer to the residents of this township.
As a business we value integrity, honesty, benevolence, family, and community and will continue to demonstrate this through generosity and care for our neighbours. As corporate citizens we can become agents of change, but for meaningful change to occur, collaboration and engagement is required for optimal impact. We invite anyone who shares our heart for helping others – individuals or organisations – to heed the call and get involved in our project. Only when we stand together can we make a significant impact and really change the lives of those who have so much need.
